These risks can be controlled with predictive maintenance using infrared thermography and ultrasound. The process is simple and uses infrared images and graphs of infrared energy radiated from electrical components. These include; Distribution Panels, Transformers, Motor Control Centers, Electrical Panels and Switchgear. Excess heat is a sure sign of potentially disastrous problems, as components routinely heat up abnormally before a failure. Predictive Maintenance can bring peace of mind and help to prevent unexpected problems for the property owner or building manager. It also makes economic sense to find and fix problems before costs get out of control.

Both indoor and outdoor electrical inspections are the best known use of infrared thermography and ultrasound today. This started in the 1960’s with the advent of semi-portable equipment.
